Fresh Squeezed Opera presents the world premiere of Self Defined Circuits with music by Jillian Flexner and libretto by Orlando Segarra. This innovative new opera tells the story of a newly created sex robot who tries to find out what it means to be a woman while trapped in a world created by her programmer, Pete, and his "Siri" device, Cora. The opera and its production offers a challenging look at the genre of opera and traditional performance styles by integrating extended techniques as well as both live and fixed media electronics. This production is directed by Michael Hoffman and is led by conductor Whitney George.

Songs of Summers Past marks Chelsea Opera’s return to performing in NYC through an eclectic mix of opera arias, duets, classical songs and a little musical theater accompanied by piano featuring artists who have sung leading roles with Chelsea Opera. Performers include Bradley Bickhardt, Joanie Brittingham, Sarah Daniels, Richard Hobson, Chad Kranak, and Leonarda Priore, with piano accompaniment by Jestin Pieper.

Chelsea Opera presents the world premiere of “Sidewalk Serenade” with music by Leah Mullen and libretto by Garrett August Heater. This ten-minute duet opera in English has been double cast (Quinn: tenor/soprano and Emery: baritone/mezzo) and the roles will be swapping throughout the day as the cast makes its way through the streets of Downtown Syracuse, NY!

Join City Lyric Opera this Halloween as we tell the story of Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Medium. A tale of odd occurrences at the home of the clairvoyant, Madame Flora. When a seance takes an unexpected turn, we watch as Madame Flora attempts to make sense of what has transpired. As Madame Flora tries to make sense of her realities, she is driven mad and succumbs to the voices that pull her from the other side. Through the course of the opera, we witness her ultimate downfall and its effects on those around her.

Experiments in Opera and Contemporaneous, led by conductor David Bloom, present the premiere of Chunky in Heat an opera based on a libretto by celebrated author A. M. Homes. Chunky in Heat tells the story of a girl who comes of age poolside at her family’s home in the canyons of Los Angeles. The magical thinking of youth comes undone after her brother dies and she realizes what the word “dream” in American Dream really means. Chunky in Heat features music by Jason Cady, Paula Matthusen, Erin Rogers, Aaron Siegel, Shelley Washington and Matthew Welch. This production is directed by Alison Moritz.

Celebrated author A. M. Homes, the librettist for our upcoming opera Chunky in Heat, will do a reading of some of her work. And we will also hear selections from Chunky in Heat performed by soprano Sarah Daniels.
Sarah Daniels is making her dell'Arte Opera Ensemble debut as Cock, Young Frog, Jay, Fox Cub, and ensemble in Leoš Janáček's Príhody Lišky Bystrousšky (The Cunning Little Vixen) conducted by David Štech.
Director Ashraf Sewailem brings this beloved Czech opera to life through the lens of our current political upheaval.
